Dear Alpha Beacon Families,
Isn't this warm weather wonderful? Beyond allergies, I hope you are having a blessed week. Here's the latest regarding a school site:
God has closed the door on 767 Industrial, San Carlos. Since it is currently the home of a dance studio and a church, our agent was told that the city would support the use.
(It looks like a school.) Thanks to a connection through one of our faithful parents, even the acting Mayor of San Carlos called me (out of the blue) and told me he was cheering for us. Unfortunately, in the end, the City denied our use for the site. They do not want a preschool–grade 12 school in an area zoned for heavy industry. I was disappointed, but not surprised. Let's trust that God will continue to guide and protect us.
In light of this, I have good news to report. First of all, last Friday, I approached the Redwood City School District to see if they have 12 classrooms for Alpha Beacon. Yesterday, Raul Parangao, Chief Business Official, called me with a positive response. Even though Redwood City is looking to expand programs, they are willing to see if leasing 12 classrooms—for a year—to us is possible. However, they are concerned that, after investing time and money, we may back out of our deal like we did last year. (If you remember, we chose to go to Bayside at the last minute.) Consequently, before we proceed, Redwood City is asking us to make a non-refundable deposit to discourage us from ditching them again. I told Raul we are willing to make this deposit. And as a result, we are moving forward and are waiting to hear back from them.
Second, I was delighted to receive a phone call, last Friday, from an investment manager of a prominent wealth-management company. He represents an anonymous client who is interested in making a donation (from their private foundation) that would help Alpha Beacon secure a permanent campus. The donor is acquainted with our ministry and our current situation. I have answered some exploratory questions and eagerly await their feedback. Isn't this intriguing and exciting? I wonder what God has in store?
Finally, I want to thank many of you for uplifting me with your words and Bible verses. During this difficult time, I am grateful that you are combating ANTS (Automatic Negative Thinking Syndrome) by walking confidently with our Risen Lord and Savior Jesus. Way to live victoriously! You are the best and I appreciate you.

Believing,
